Pool Maintenance

Is your pool in use all summer long? Are you constantly entertaining family and friends in your pool? Do you feel that there is not enough time in the day to keep your pool adequately maintained? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then you need to call Miami Valley Pools & More LLC today.

How Often Should You Clean Your Pool?

Recommendations for how often you should clean your pool are generally based on how frequently you use it, what types of vegetation and landscaping surround it, and what kind of pool you own. For high-use pools or those with heavy surrounding trees, daily skimming, netting, and more frequent brushing and vacuuming (perhaps 3-4 times a week) might be necessary.

A low-use pool in a minimally landscaped area might require skimming and netting just a few times a week, with brushing and vacuuming once or twice a week.

No matter your specific situation, consistent maintenance is the secret to the safety and longevity of your investment. Following a regular cleaning routine and adjusting the frequency based on your pool's needs helps you keep your water sparkling clean and enjoyable all season long.

How Often Should You Check Your Pools Chemistry?

During peak swimming season, when you use your pool heavily, you should test your pool chemistry at least weekly. This allows for close monitoring and quick adjustments to maintain proper sanitation and swimmer comfort. Heavy rain can dilute pool chemicals, so testing after a downpour is necessary to make sure chlorine levels haven't dipped below the safe range.

If you have a large party or there's a surge in pool use, be sure to test your pool water afterward to ensure chemical levels haven't been depleted.

Pool Cleaning Services

Unless, you and your family are big fans of St. Patrick’s Day there is no reason why your pool should be green. If you notice your pool displaying even the slightest green glaze then you need to contact Miami Valley Pools & More LLC immediately. Our pool maintenance experts have the experience and know-how to determine whether a green pool can be remedied and replenished or whether it will need to be drained. If the former is the case, our team will use the following techniques to assess the scale and range of the damage as well as a number of measures to fix the problem.

Testing the Water

If your pool has gone green, then it is a telltale sign that your pool has insufficient chlorine in it. However, more importantly is determining the pH level of your pool. Our team uses the most advanced water testing kits that can determine the pH level of the water in your pool to great detail. In general, it is recommended that the pH level should be below 7.2. If it is higher than this number, we will apply the adequate amount of muriatic acid to correct the issue.

Shocking the Pool

Depending on both the pH level and the severity of the greenness, our team of pool maintenance team may need to shock your pool.

Applying a Strong Algaecide

Following three or four hours of shocking, our maintenance team will then add a tailor-made algaecide that will ensure your pool is not only chlorinated but is also algae-free.

Checking the Pump and Filter

Whether your pool has a DE, sand or cartridge filter, we will be able to apply the necessary backwash techniques needed to ensure the pump and filter are running correctly.

Brushing the Pool

After 24 hours, we expect that the color of your pool will be pretty much back to normal and you should see a massive transformation. That being said, it is likely that it will remain cloudy following the shocking and will need additional filtration and brushing. Our team will return a day after the initial deep clean and complete the process.

Why Is Your Pool Water Green?

An algae bloom is usually what's behind turquoise pool water that turns into a murky green lagoon. This happens because algae thrive in a chemical imbalance. They're a microscopic organism that multiplies rapidly in warm, still water. When your pool's chlorine levels drop, and pH is off balance, these algae find the perfect opportunity to reproduce.

Our technicians shock your pool to eradicate algae and return your water to a sparkling, clear blue. During this treatment, we monitor chlorine levels closely to ensure they rise to eliminate the algae spores and existing bloom. We also clean and brush your pool walls to dislodge any clinging algae and debris and run your pool's filter continuously for several days to remove dead algae and prevent new growth from taking hold.

How Do You Get Rid of Pool Stains?

Is your pool starting to lose its pristine sparkle and develop unsightly stains? This can happen when metal gets into water from pool piping and iron in well water. Staining can also occur when organic matter, such as leaves and insects, enters your pool and breaks down, leaving behind a brown or greenish-yellow mark. Mineral buildup is another culprit. It leaves your pool with a residue that can lead to a rough texture and a dull-looking surface.

Our skilled technicians restore your pool's surface to its original beauty using a proven method: pool acid washing. This process involves applying a diluted acid solution that gently removes mineral buildup, stains, and a thin layer of your pool plaster, revealing a refreshed and sparkling clean surface that makes your pool look and feel brand new.
